I'll even agree with you that our consumerist culture is a bit despicable, but the reason that we have these economic downturns has to do with government intervention and our crooked banking system. Unfortunately, this new "economic stimulus" check is just going to cause more inflation and, thus, not make anyone richer. That's not to say you shouldn't give money to those in need; I'm just saying that this "free money" is really just another distortion on the economy. I *highly* suggest, to everyone, that you study up on the money/banking system that we have in this country (USA). Money is, as unfortunate as it may be, of grave importance to all of our well-being, so it's a good idea to understand how it *really* works. (You'll be surprised!)
