You could always help fund me start of my driving instructor business, i'm in the uk and probably dont count but if you wanted to make a change to an individual then it definately would, i would really like to start teaching the martial arts i have practiced for quite a while and open up my own gym/dojo/activity unit with indorr rock climbing etc... just lacking the funds. would be amazing though. just thought i'd add to the options like you do.

I missed this article on the Jesus Manifesto site and just came across it today as I was researching other similar reactions to the economic stimulus package.

I invite all of you, along with signing the pledge, to visit the Pentecost Project for more ways to make a prophetic witness towards a more true and loving economy:

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

In case any of you are looking for a place/cause/organization to give your 1/2 of your economic stimulus to, please check out Orphanage Project Liberia at http://orphanageprojectliberia.blogspot.com/. I just stumbled upon this website today so I plan on borrowing your great idea for your economic stimulus donations through Pledge Bank to get others to join in to help the orphans of Liberia.

Chris,

Thanks for your thoughts. We purposely are not intending to 'blame' capitalism, so that people like you and I can find common ground in our desire to help others.

Please consider joining the pledge and working together to meet the needs of others, regardless of your thoughts on whose to blame.

I admire your generosity and your faith in Christ, but I want to make a note that capitalism is not at fault, here. I'll even agree with you that our consumerist culture is a bit despicable, but the reason that we have these economic downturns has to do with government intervention and our crooked banking system.

Unfortunately, this new "economic stimulus" check is just going to cause more inflation and, thus, not make anyone richer. That's not to say you shouldn't give money to those in need; I'm just saying that this "free money" is really just another distortion on the economy.

I *highly* suggest, to everyone, that you study up on the money/banking system that we have in this country (USA). Money is, as unfortunate as it may be, of grave importance to all of our well-being, so it's a good idea to understand how it *really* works. (You'll be surprised!)

Here is a great place to start:

In any case, I'll try to give some of my "stimulus rebate" to some people that are more in need. :o)
